As one of the sponsors of Challenge Penticton & the official photographers of the event, we wanted to sponsor a relay team.
We couldn't just have anyone fill the rolls, we wanted the right fit. But who? We took to Facebook and asked anyone who was interested to send us a message on why their team deserved the relay tickets. So, after receiving many messages, we came across Josh and his friends. His team fit perfectly what we wanted to showcase. How much the locals love penticton and the new Challenge race. How exciting! Here's the skinny on our relay team.
Josh grew up in Penticton, graduating from Pen Hi in 2012. He started skiing at a young age and his Father is the Head Coach for the Canadian Mogul Team. He loves free style skiing and is currently pursuing a career competing for Canada at the Olympics and following in the footsteps of the likes of Alex Bilodeau. He is also continuing his studies online through Thompson Rivers University while working toward his ski career. Over the years he found cycling to be an extremely effective form of cross training and grew to love it. When he decided to put the team together while watching last years Challenge he knew he wanted to do the Cycling portion.
This is small part of what Josh wrote us
"Ryan and I having grown up in Penticton watching Ironman/Challenge year after year and JR having participated over the years we are all incredibly excited to participate in our first Challenge Penticton. Having such a good group of friends working together to reach our goal has been great so far even though we are still only in training mode. The relay is a new adventure which none of us have done before and we all feel like we are up to the challenge. We aren't only looking to cross the finish line but we are looking to be one of the top relay teams in the event. We are all training super hard and are looking to do some serious damage. I can't even imagine the feeling of actually crossing that finish line and we are all super psyched about it!"
This is why we love Challenge Penticton and we are glad to be a part of it. We are happy to have this relay team meet their challenge.
Stay tuned as we will introduce the next member of our relay team, Ryan Sutcliffe, our runner.
